Soft Life, Smart Money, Holy Strategy: What God Is Teaching Me About Being a Grown Woman Right Now

December 09, 20254 min read

Girrrrllllla,

Let me tell you something I didn’t expect about entering my “soft life, mind my business, drink my water” era:

Being a grown woman is ghetto sometimes.
And holy.
And transformative.
And expensive.
And healing.
And financially confusing.
And emotionally humbling.

All at the same time.

And right now?
Between caregiving, climbing at work, surviving a rainy winter with natural hair, crypto markets acting like petty exes, and trying to maintain peace in a relationship that’s shifting under my feet… I’m learning what it REALLY means to steward my life on all fronts:

Spiritually.
Emotionally.
Financially.

This is not theory.
This is not a random Pinterest quote.
This is my actual life — in real time.

And sis… God has been dragging me and delivering me in the same breath.

Let’s unpack it.

When Life Gets Loud, Your Money Gets Messy

One thing I’ve learned about myself — and probably you too:

Money gets chaotic the same moment your emotions do.

When I’m overwhelmed?
DoorDash becomes a coping mechanism.
Amazon turns into a hobby.
Budgets turn into suggestions.
And I convince myself I deserved the treat because “life is hard.”

But here’s the truth:

Emotional spending is spiritual avoidance.
And financial chaos is emotional clutter in disguise.

The Whole Girl Method taught me that before I’m “bad with money,”
I’m usually tired, stretched thin, overwhelmed, or avoiding something else entirely.

WGM = the emotional work
BGBG = the financial work
TGS = the spiritual work

And right now?
All three are screaming at me at the same time.

When Your Responsibilities Don’t Match Your Capacity

This season of my life looks like:

  • a job that keeps expanding my role without expanding my sanity

  • a father who needs permanent care

  • a mother who’s helpless as hell

  • siblings who are missing in action

  • a boyfriend whose mental illness shifted the entire dynamic

  • my own hair revolting against humidity

  • markets swinging like they’re bipolar

  • and me still trying to show up as a whole, faith-filled woman

And even in that chaos, God whispered something wild to me:

“You don’t get points for surviving. You get peace for stewarding.”

Meaning:
Life isn’t asking me to be perfect.
It’s asking me to be intentional.

The Real Revelation: Broke Was Never My Ministry

You know what hit me recently?

Even in all this chaos, I’m not meant to be struggling.

Financially.
Emotionally.
Spiritually.
Energetically.

“Broke” isn’t just money —
it’s the mindset of scarcity, panic, reacting, and functioning from depletion.

And sis… I’ve been financially blessed but spiritually tired.
Emotionally aware but physically drained.
Career stable but soul overwhelmed.

God checked me so lovingly:

“You’re not failing — you’re stretched.
But you can’t keep praying for abundance while living in avoidance.”

Whew.

Proverbs 31… But Make It Make Sense

Proverbs 31 isn’t about perfection.
It’s about stewardship.

She:

  • invested

  • planned

  • prepared

  • built

  • managed

  • multiplied

  • rested

  • and moved with wisdom

She wasn’t soft because life was easy.
She was soft because she stewarded well.

And THAT, prophetess, is where BGBG comes in.

This is why I built the gang:

For women like me and you who love God, love our peace, love a good brunch, and still want our money, our decisions, and our future to be handled with clarity.

Crypto, Stocks & Bills: The Grown Woman Remix

Between Bitcoin bleeding, stocks fluctuating, paying for caregiving, and budgeting for groceries that cost more than rent… I had to get honest about my financial stewardship:

  • I needed systems

  • I needed clarity

  • I needed consistency

  • I needed strategy

  • I needed a plan

  • And I needed community

Because the truth is…
being financially grown is a team sport.

You can have all the knowledge in the world, but if your emotional life is loud?
Your money will still be messy.

BGBG isn’t about being rich.
It’s about being wise.
It’s about being prepared.
It’s about being aligned.

It’s about choosing soft life + smart money + holy strategy — all at once.

What God Is Teaching Me in This Season

Here’s the revelation that ties all of this together:

1. Stewardship is spiritual.

Take care of what God gave you and He’ll multiply it.

2. Soft life isn’t laziness — it’s alignment.

Rest is holy.

3. Financial clarity requires emotional honesty.

Stop treating money like a math problem.
It’s a heart problem.

4. Wealth doesn’t require hustle — just wisdom.

The Proverbs 31 woman wasn’t hustling.
She was managing.

5. Community is the cheat code.

Whole Girl + BGBG + God Squad are not random.
They are the three parts of one calling:
Faith.
Wholeness.
Stewardship.

  1. What part of your life feels loud right now?

  2. Where do your emotions spill into your money decisions?

  3. What is God nudging you to steward better — your time, your budget, your emotions, your peace?

  4. Where do you need support, clarity, or community?
